Helping principals flourish not just cope
Becoming a School Principal is not for the faint hearted. The job has evolved significantly. It has become more demanding, more broad and more complex than ever before. It is going through a tipping point of change like we have never seen. This ranges from changes in technology, internal systems used, curriculum and expectations from the community, students and parents. Add to this the fact that the role has become 24/7 and accessibility means they feel like their lives are no longer their own.
The Flourish Movement has a vision to leave a legacy of wellbeing and fulfilment for current and future school principals.
How will it do this:
Research Phase - Understand how the role of a school Principal has evolved (Partnering with Deakin University).
Longitudinal Intervention - Support Principals to make them more effective all the while helping to improve their emotional and physical wellbeing.
‘The Flourish Movement – Helping school Principals flourish not just cope – 2019 Report to the New South Wales Department of Education’
This report represents the findings and learning from the Flourish movement research project. It also documents the changes that occurred in school principals and leader’s wellbeing, effectiveness and mental health as a result of the Flourish Movement program. Finally, it contains our recommendations moving forward to help facilitate school principal and leader’s wellbeing.
It has been one of the most fulfilling and joyous projects we have ever been involved in. Thank you to everyone involved.
